I just had a thought! (Pretty rare for me) Anyway... I would like some feedback on the following Idea... I was thinking about buying a DVD burner with some of my tax-return money and I figured it would be great for everyone. Let me explain... As you know whenever we make copies of VHS tapes for eachother, the quality gets worse and worse. I was thinking of maybe taking a collection (of tapes) from everyone and compiling the best of the best copies to burn DVD's for everyone. I would imagine that by now everyone has a DVD player. This way we would all have a permanant library of Heather stuff that wont get worse everytime you play it. Please let me know what you think about this. _Tim_ |

Hi Tim, That is a generous offer. I was reading an article on some of the stand alone DVD burners and they can even improve the quality of a poor video tape. I looked around for Poltergeist 3 on DVD but it is not available. I was able to get it on VCDs though (Video CD). I'm waiting for that to come come in. Curtis |

Curtis, Where are you located? I'm guessing in the U.K. I'm pretty sure that only Poltergeist is available on anything other than VHS here in the States. I do however have Poltergeist II and III on the old Laser Disk format. I'm not so much concerned about the Poltergeist movies anyway because they are still available to people. I'm more concerned with the TV shows and commercials and such, the things that we can't go out and buy. I just think it would be great to be able to put an archive together that would last for a long time. It would have to be free because it would be illegal for me to charge money for copywrited material. _Tim_ |

Hi Tim, Yes, compiling the commercials and TV shows on DVD is a great idea. I live in the U.S. but I ordered the VCD online. I have several movies on VCD. A friend in Singapore got me started on VCDs. I only buy them when I can't find something on DVD. I have seen Poltergeist 1 and 2 on DVD but not part 3. You are doing a great job on the website. There are a lot of nice people here. Curtis |

That's a brilliant Idea, Tim. I did something similar to that with the Peanuts collections after Shultz died. That took 4 DVDs!! I even had every Met Life commercial they did. You idea will rock if everyone participates. Wouldn't it be expensive on your own? I understand the legalities, but how can we help you out? |

Tim, That is a WONDERFUL idea! I have a DVD player on my computer, and I hardly ever use it - this will be the perfect excuse TO use it! Just so that you know, I have CHiPs, the E! THS, and some Happy Days episodes on original tape that I recorded off t.v. this year. My video of Surviving is in the hands of Heather Hurley, who got it from Aja, who I gave it to a long time ago. That was my only tape, so I would definitely need to get another copy of that. I would e-mail you a full list of the items I already have and then if you could dub the stuff I don't have that would be super! I got a tape of some shows a long time back and they are just horribly recorded. Sabrina |

Ok... To get the ball rolling here we all need to post a message containing what it is that you have on tape. Try to be exact as to what you have and also indicate the quality that you have. Also indicate whether or not the tape has commercials on it or not. We still have a few months to get everything organized. Ebuzz is right though, unless we can get everyone to participate this will not work properly. Hopefully we will know within the next couple weeks if this is going to pan out. If so, we will still have about 2 months to make it all happen. When/If it comes time to do this, you are all going to have to send me your video's. We'll establish some better instructions when the time comes but for now I'll say this much... Be sure to write your name on your video's! I want to make sure everyone get's their own originals back. Be sure to send it INSURED. We will work out the details later. Just need to be worried about getting organized right now, everything else will come in time. _Tim_ |

One more thought... Each DVD will be permantly and digitaly etched with your name. I DO NOT EVER want to see any of these DVD's on eBay. This is something for the group and I would like it to stay that way. Does anyone disagree? _Tim_ |

Hey, Timby, who's gonna burn all the stuff to a dvd? Will it be in chronological order? What all will it have on it? Do you have a laser disc player? I would also love to have the Making of Poltergeist. I don't think Heather is in it much, but it has a very cute clip of her. I think finding Heather's Fantasy Island and Rocky Road episode will be harder than locating the lost city of Atlantis. Not to mention any of her Rainbow Brite commercials, McDonalds commercials, and that TV pilot, "Here to Stay" or "Puttin' on the Kids". Sorry, I'm ranting. I secretly like playing a cyber Indiana Jones. -Celia |

Tim - I think you started a frenzy here! There is all this footage out there that people have that I never knew even existed. This idea has everyone so excited. I have to admit, I feel VERY guilty, for I don't have anything except the movies Heather did - and now there's a chance I can get it all! I would like to encourage EVERYONE to contribute all they have and make this the ultimate Heather O'Rourke collection. Tim, I have a DVD burner myself that supports -R and +R formats, so If I can help you out in any way, please let me know. I would be more than happy to do whatever you need to make this a success. Remember folks, this is a collective effort, so send in what you have and rest assured Tim will get your stuff back to you as soon as possible. This won't work without ALL of us. Personally, I can't wait to see all this stuff on Heather that I never knew was filmed. Let's all make it happen! -Ebuzz |

I have "Poltergeist 3" (well...not the official one - I'd taped it back in '97). And also .....somewhere.... I think I have the "Our House" episode - ...but I know they really aren't good quality. Wish I could help you guys out. When I go home over xmas break, I'll tape the E! True Hollywood Story... so... if you wanta see the quality lemme know and I could mail it in. I was wondering though..., are you going to send out both versions of "Poltergeist 3"? I noticed that the one I have ...that was broadcast on TBS a few years ago... has a different image set-up in it than the one they show now... as far as one of the scenes goes. Just wondering... I wish I could help you guys out - ...so lemme know. Kristina P.S. Personally, I really like the idea of our names being etched in the DVD's. !! |

Yeah - that's a good idea because I'm sure new fans will want to borrow. I lent out PI DVD to a friend and he moved to Africa! He and I both forgot about it. Hate it when that happens. Another idea I'd had - not really related to the current discussion, but wouldn't we all be curious as to what we all look like? I had thought maybe it'd be cool if Tim could set up a place where we could all post are pictures, those that would be willing anyway. Hey, I'm curious?? |

Ok... Lots of questions here... I'll do my best to get everything answered. From Celia... "Who's gonna burn all the stuff to a dvd? Will it be in chronological order? What all will it have on it? Do you have a laser disc player?" I plan to purchase a DVD recorder with some of my tax return money, I do not have a laser disk player as of yet, but they go pretty cheep on eBay. I'm not sure what order things will be in, it's going to get messy. I would love it if you would make a final list of whose got what and make an outline for me. From Ebuzz... "Tim, I have a DVD burner myself that supports -R and +R formats, so If I can help you out in any way, please let me know. I would be more than happy to do whatever you need to make this a success." Ebuzz, here's what I'm thinking right now... I'll make one set and then over-nite the disk(s) to you and you can help me to make the duplicates. this will certainly save a lot of time if two people are running the copies. From Poltergeistfan... "are you going to send out both versions of "Poltergeist 3"?" I was not planning on doing anything with the Poltergeist movies because you can still purchase them from the stores/web. From Ebuzz..."maybe it'd be cool if Tim could set up a place where we could all post are pictures, those that would be willing anyway. Hey, I'm curious??" Actually, I had already put some thought to that. there is a couple of ways that it could be done and I think it would be a great idea. I'm just not sure as of yet how I want to do it. I've recently heard about a new law though. It seems that anyone 13 years and younger is not allowed to give their name/email address or any other information. It's not legal for me to abtain that info or display it. Some of our members are a little on the young side and that alone is a grey area. _Tim_ I hope I didn't miss anyone! |

Whoa, whoa. We should first all decide what all we want on the DVD's and what footage goes where. I wish someone would answer me regurding Finder of Lost Loves. I think Jason said he actually had it. That would be great if we could get it vidcaped. I actually e-mailed some people about the "Puttin' On the Kids" show. It's a long shot that they'll co-operate with me, but I gotta take that chance. It's a Christmas show and Heather dances and lip-syncs to Jingle Bell Rock. Still searching for answers... |

I wish I could have EVERYTHING Heather ever did, and I'm sure most of us feel the same way. But since I have to choose, I want: Any of Heather's commercials/TV pilot(s) The Making of Poltergeist (if available) Believe You Can...And You Can!* Webster* A Current Affair* Our House* The New Leave It To Beaver* Happy Days ("Hello Pfisters," "Nervous Romance") Matt Houston Fantasy Island Rocky Road Finder Of Lost Loves Surviving Masserati and the Brain Again I know some of the things I listed are unavailable and VERY rare, so if anyone can get them I'd love to have them included. Otherwise I think all I REALLY want is to replace the video I already have with better copies of those shows (the ones marked by an asterisk above), as well as the Happy Days episodes I'm missing and Heather's TV commercials. I would really like to see that Strawberry Shortcake commercial since I had one of those as a little girl. Sorry for rambling...I am just really excited about this!!! ~ Sabrina |

I'm almost going to burst out singing because I'm so happy. If I can get Finder of Lost Loves from Jason and Matt Houston from Leah, that means we only have two more appearances we lack on the site as far as vidcaps. Fantasy Island and Rocky Road will be hard to find, but as I've learned over the years if we keep working hard anything is possible. |

Well, Tim just told me that Heather's Happy Days episodes would take one DVD. I'm only estimating, but we're probably looking at five or six DVDs when all of the gathering and burning is done. Yikes I just read that post about the New Leave It To Beaver episodes and I realized that I am short one. So now I would need both episodes, because I want to get a better copy of the one I have plus the one I don't; I would also need copies of all 3 episodes of Webster for the same reason - I have two that I would want better copies of and then there is one that I still don't have. Okay....I have been behind this reading all the posts and I came down to one conclusion. According to Sabrina and I, we were discussing the collection. And we think that it would make perfect sense to just copy ALL the stuff onto a DVD without being bombarded with all these lists of what everyone wants. It would be very confusing and disorganized. Just the idea of everyone getting the same thing (whether you have the epsisodes or not) it would be better off. Not only that, the quality might be 10 times better if the best stuff is selected from all the items that will be sent to make this collection. It would also save time and money and everyone will recieve their collection a lot faster. Also, I think we should all put in money to make this. It would be the best way to contribute if you don't have anything of Heather's to give. And it would be a great treat for everyone considering we might be able to see those videos of Heather and Tammy at the piano and Heather lip syncing and dancing to Jingle Bell Rock. (I want to see that SOO bad!) and now, Matt Houston and maybe Finder of Lost lives! This is getting exciting! Don't let it crash! Well, I hope I didn't miss out on anything I needed to say. I think I've covered it all. If I missed something, I will come back. Or maybe someone else will mention it :P. Well, please get back to me on this. This whole "everyone gets a copy of everything whether you have it or not" makes perfect sense and is a lot easier. Just think about it. HAPPY HOLIDAYS! Aja ps-Also, Heather's Birthday is just right around the corner! Be sure to light a candle or something in memory of her! I am sure the board will be loaded with posts for Heather on the 27th. December 27th is a SPECIAL day! Also, I know this is off topic, but please remember JonBNOSPAM Ramsey as well. Since she was killed on the 26th. This year it will be six years since she was found strangled in her home in December 1996. Justice will be served! God Bless! |

ONE MORE THING.....Be sure to estimnate about how many disks you will need so everyone can send that amount. (EX. If the whole collection took up 6 disks, everyone would need to send 6 or even 7 depends.) Also, the amount of space on each disk as well. (I hope I know what I'm talking about! LOL) Just trying to help! Aja |

The price will be whatever the cost of the DVD's and postage is. There will be no profit made on this. It seems that the DVD's are a little less than $10(US) each. I'll keep looking around to try and find a good price on bulk disks. What prices have you seen Ebuzz? _Tim_ |

Tim, Maybe we can supply our own blank DVD disks and send them in to be copied on. Just let us know how many disks you will be needing. You should do a copy test and see how many it takes up, then let us know. It might be easier for everyone. Whoever sends in disks will get a copy of everything. It will be their responsibilty to send the disks if they want a set. Aja |

Tim I usually pay around $8 for blank DVDs if you get them at Best Buy or Walmart. That's the cheapest I've seen them. Sams and Costco sell in bulk and if you do the math they're cheaper individually but who needs 50 DVDs? Just so everyone knows, there are two formats to record DVDs. the +R standard and the -R standard. Not all of the 1st generation DVD players (for your computer) will play both standards. Most will play only -R standard and that's the standard I recommend we record in. Tim, you will be doing the masters so keep this in mind. It's highly unlikely you will see a burner that doesn't do both now - but you will have to select which standard you want to burn. +R standard won't work with older players, but -R will and newer players will also play -R. This is just a reminder because you haven't bought yours yet. You don't have to worry about this when buying blank DVDs, they're all the same when they're blank. Just like the CDRs, some cost more then others, and just like CDRs, the more expensive ones don't seem to have any advantage. Go the cheaper route! Ebuzz |
